Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and growth-oriented Research Associate / Senior Research Associate to join our downstream process development team. The successful candidate will assist in the development and optimization of downstream unit operations used to purify, concentrate, and formulate biologically derived non-viral delivery vehicles. Working closely with their supervisor, the candidate will contribute to the design of experiments, execute and document experimental work, perform laboratory support work as needed, and analyze data and communicate experimental results.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with purification unit operations such as tangential flow filtration, normal flow filtration, and chromatographic separations, as well as the capability and desire to learn and apply new experimental methodologies. Drive to execute, experimental rigor and scientific curiosity are key! We are a small and growing company, so the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving priorities is a must.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work on projects involving the production and purification of engineered payloads used in genomic and epigenomic editing applications
  • Apply methods in cell biology, cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, and engineering to advance scientific projects
  • Working with supervisor, select the most suitable methodology, and contribute to the design of experiments
  • Independently set up and prepare routine experiments as directed. Execute protocols of non-routine experiments with supervision as needed
  • Perform calculations, record, and document data in an electronic lab notebook. Analyze data using scientific and statistical methods, and communicate results
  • Assist with regular maintenance of critical laboratory reagents and troubleshooting of advanced equipment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field with 0-2 years of industry experience.
  • Hands on laboratory experience with normal flow filtration, tangential flow filtration, liquid chromatography, or nanoparticle formulations is desired
  • Familiarity with mammalian cell culture and/or experience working with viral vectors/nanoparticles preferred
  • Experience using aseptic technique is desired
  • Strong problem-solving, organization, and communication skills
  • Desire to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment

Additional Requirements

  • Full time in-person work is necessary for this laboratory-based position
  • We work in facilities that require that all individuals working on-site are vaccinated for COVID-19
